Adnan at Blogtrepreneur has a great post on making goals for 2008, which reminded me that it’s time to settle into putting down some specific goals myself. This is basically a follow-up to my last post on implementation.

Before I start, one thing Adnan asks in his post is, “is there an advantage to making goals?” I now think there is. In the past, I resisted the urge to get specific, but this past year, I’ve realized that really, my resistance was all about my fear of NOT meeting my goals. 2007 was a fabulous year for me online (even with a period of blogging burnout), with the result that I have totally lost that fear. My personal opinion now is that setting down goals in words is just another method of helping you create what you want in life.

So, without any further fanfare, I’m going to list some specific goals. And I intend to be able to come back next year and write a post like Adnan did on meeting the previous year’s goals!

1. Make the move to a full-time online business.

I’ve been doing this for three years now, and have never actually expressed this as a goal. In the past, I always hemmed and hawed around it, but now? I’m ready. Best of all, it feels doable.

December was an amazing month for me, and while things have died down a bit now that the holiday shopping season is over, I’m still doing much better this month then I was last January. That feeling of being able to do this full-time makes a huge difference.

2. Start gathering up all that money I’ve been leaving on the table.

This list is actually a mile long (or so it seems). There are a lot of things that I want to get done, that I KNOW will add more to my income. They’re pretty simple things, too - like adding email lists to various sites, adding affiliate code to other sites, implementing additional income stream strategies on still more sites.

The beauty of the online world is that you get paid, over and over again, for the time it takes you to implement something. The eBay code that I need to add to one of my sites, for example, will keep earning for me well beyond the time it will take me. (On the other hand, we’re talking about nearly a 1000 pages here, which is one reason I’ve been putting this off. Oh, wait. I shouldn’t be thinking of the obstacles in a post about my goals!)

3. Build my VRE empire.

I am fully committed to this goal. By the end of the year, I intend to have at least 30 niche-specific sites up and running, and more importantly, each of them earning at least $10 a day.

After two months in JD Swanson’s VRE Challenge membership, I’m even more certain that this is a very doable goal.

4. Focus on traffic.

I recently posted at Adventures in Net Marketing that 2008 is my year of promotion. December showed me the power of having traffic, and I want to continue this trend with all my authority sites. Which brings me to my next goal …

5. Continue building and expanding on my authority sites.

2008 will also be the year my authority sites will take off - existing ones, plus the few that I have in pre-launch phase right now. There’s also one that is in the drawing board stage.

One thing I’ve discovered is that it’s fun having authority sites. Once these start developing, a lot of opportunities begin streaming your way. So I’m going to really focus on growing my authority sites this year.

6. Become more active online.

One of my best moves last year was to join Dennis Becker’s E1KD forum. And Dennis wrote a wonderful report for forum members on becoming active in forums - it was a great read, and it’s something that I need to start doing again.

I also need to get back into the blogging community. That’s something else that I’ve missed, and now that I’m set up on Wordpress with a marketing blog (rather then Typepad, much as I love Adventures in Net Marketing), it will feel much more comfortable doing so.

I’ve met some very wonderful people online because of my previous forum activity, and my blogging. It’s something that I very much want to continue doing.

So those are my goals for 2008. It feels good to have them set out in black and white like that.
